	... UPDATE ON OUR NEWS International vodka diplomacy ! France - New President and new Government Congratulations to our new, brilliant, energetic and charming President Sarkozy, and to his UMP centre-right party, both now voted in with a clear majority. I'm a fan, as you might have gathered! Let's hope that this new team can take France out of its downward spiral to great things. However, I cannot resist adding the link to the video showing the non-drinking President after consolidating his relationship with President Putin in the traditional vodka drinking session. The French press was not very kind, but anyone who has done business with Russians knows that he cannot refuse such a session, and since he could still walk he is clearly a winner. We did not see any videos of President Putin after this session! (Click here for video) Russia - Political muscles There are some disturbing developments on the Russo/British political front, causing investors into Russia to re-analyse political country risk. President Putin has hardened his position with Great Britain over various issues such as: the US/European anti- missile shield project in Poland (President Putin suggested Azerbaijan, and anyway does not believe that Iran is a potential threat), the joint US/Russia radar system in the Czech Republic, the Gazprom takeover of British investments in Russian oilfields, the ongoing spy murder debacle in London, accusations that the British Council in Yekaterinburg are spies (hard to believe of our dedicated education orientated buffs!), Russians in London are spies too….. Apparently even our Great Communicator Tony Blair did not manage to create an entente cordial; clearly he did not drink enough vodka with President Putin. Perhaps a visit to Scotland with some fine malt whiskey and some hard drinking Scots would help things along? Moscow is also awash with rumours about President Putin's intentions to promote a faithful colleague as the candidate for the next Presidency in 2008, Mr Putin will then head up Gazprom, then the new President will resign for spurious reasons, whereupon Mr Putin will be called back to take charge…. And these rumours are in highly respectable journals too! Espérons maintenant que cette nouvelle équipe trouvera les bonnes solutions pour rénover et sortir la France de ces vieux défauts... Je ne résiste pas à vous montrer la fameuse vidéo du très sobre Président Sarkozy qui n'a pas du tout l'habitude de consommer de l'alcool, mais qui a du se plier au rituel traditionnel de la diplomatie de la vodka. Incontournable protocole lors d'une première rencontre avec un Russe, y compris avec le Président Putin. La presse française n'a pas été très cordiale et informative, car nous savons très bien pour ceux qui font des affaires avec la Russie qu'il est strictement impossible et très impoli de refuser une telle invitation, signe d'une bonne relation, tant que vous parvenez encore à marcher, vous êtes considérer comme un partenaire gagnant. Nous n'avons pas eu la chance de voir la vidéo du Président Putin, après cette rencontre au somment! (Click here for video) Russie : une politique musclée Il y a des éléments perturbants dans les relations internationales et notamment sur le plan politique entre la Grande-Bretagne et la Russie. Ce qui conduit les investisseurs et analystes financiers à reconsidérer leurs perceptions des risques en Russie aujourd'hui. Le President Putin a durci ses positions vis-à-vis de la Grande-Bretagne sur différents sujets : le projet américain et européen d'implantation en Pologne d'un système d'arme anti-missile (President Putin a suggéré d'utiliser des équipements en Azerbaijan, et ne considère par que l'Iran est une menace potentielle), la question du partenariat Russo-Américain sur le système d'armes en République Tchèque, la question de Gazprom qui a pris le contrôle d'investissements britanniques sur les champs pétrolifère et gaziers de Russie, le rocambolesque meurtre de l'espion Russe à Londres, les accusations d'espionnage contre le British Council in Yekaterinburg (difficile à croire!), les Russes à Londres espionnent aussi… Apparemment les talents de communicateur de Tony Blair n'ont pas suffit à créer une entente cordiale avec la Russie en ce moment, il n'a clairement pas bu suffisament de vodka avec Putin! Peut-être qu'une visite en Ecosse devant une bouteille de "fine malt whiskey " aidera les relations diplomatiques entre les deux pays?
